In the foothills of the Sierra de Grazalema, not far from Cadiz, lies the village of Ubrique. Ubrique is home to probably the best artisans in the leather world.
This is where Café’s exclusive products are manufactured. By hand.
Meet Café Leather
Café Leather is about authenticity, passion for detail, and respect for things well made. Their products are made by traditional craftsmen in the small town of Ubrique in Spain, using the best raw materials available. Craftsmen who have passed on their knowledge from generation to generation. Craftsmen like Juan, who was born in Ubrique and has more than 40 years of experience.
“This work is not for everyone. It is for those who love and understand the leather processes. Our town and its people have grown up with leather goods. Leather is our life.”
The Coffee Inspired Story
So why the name Café? Well, apart from a fanatical love of the beverage, there are many similarities between Café Leather’s methods and artisan coffee manufacturing – handcrafting and attention to detail, for example. But there’s also the fact that you need organic growing techniques to achieve the best result. At Café Leather, all processes, from tanning with natural extracts, to manufacturing by the best artisans of Ubrique, are ecologically responsible and sustainable.
And when you are wearing one of their beautifully crafted products, that’s a nice thing to know.
Infinite care, to the smallest detail
Café’s leathers are carefully selected and responsibly produced. Vegetable tanning not only reduces environmental impact but results in leather that…actually looks and feels like leather! And will gradually acquire that unique, indelible patina of time. Twenty years from now, your new Café accessory will look even better than it does today.
Café bestow the same care to sourcing their other materials that they devote to their leather. They use only the finest organic cotton, Tencel, and waxed canvas developed over centuries by the fishermen of the north of England.
The people at Café Leather believe in methods and practices that protect the environment. For them, being sustainable means creating products that last a lifetime. The clothing industry is one of the most polluting industries on the planet, which is why Café’s designs are based on raw materials that are sustainable and high-quality.
Café believe that manufacturers and suppliers should follow sustainable policies that respect the environment. They also try to minimize waste. And transparency at every stage is paramount. Café Leather do not have anything to hide but a lot to show.
